We thank these First Peoples who continue to care for these lands, and whose relationship to these lands existed long before the founding of Canada or Ontario.

 

We recognize the ongoing legacy of colonization, forced displacement, genocide and cultural assimilation that has impacted these communities and continue to affect them to this day. We acknowledge our responsibility to work towards reconciliation and to honor the history, culture, and traditions of Indigenous peoples.
